Wedding Date – Saturday 17th March 2018
We first met Natalie and Jordan one cold Sunday in December 2016. After their wedding show round, Natalie e-mailed us to say that The Old Vicarage was everything they were looking for and we could not have been more delighted! Once they had confirmed with the registrars in the run up to Christmas, the happy couple secured their wedding date of Saturday 17th March 2018, what an amazing Christmas present for them both! We could not wait to start working with them.
As we expected Natalie and Jordan were a delight to work with from the very start. In all of our meetings with them there was a very relaxed atmosphere and it was lovely to hear that they really listened to our suggestions and booked some of our favourite suppliers. We think Natalie and Jordan will fully agree with us when we say that the planning time absolutely flew by and we could not believe the day was already here when we saw Natalie walking up the steps to The Old Vicarage with her bridal party.
I think it’s fair to say that the March weather took us all by surprise! With an unexpected forecast of a heavy snow showering we were a little anxious. As a wedding venue, difficult weather can sometimes prove a little problematic, however; we were so excited that Natalie and Jordan were going to be able to take advantage of this uncharacteristically wintery weather! We were over the moon when we saw the snow begin to settle in our grounds, as this meant Natalie and Jordan would have the most beautiful photographs. Once again, Martin Makowski managed to give Natalie and Jordan ever lasting memories of their big day through capturing every detail so perfectly. We cannot recommend Martin enough.
As Natalie and her bridal party focussed on getting ready, we put the last few finishing touches to the ceremony room. The excitement amongst the girls was so infectious and we began to feel ourselves getting very giddy about the day ahead. As all the planning and preparation came together we invited Natalie down to take a sneak peak at her wedding breakfast tables…
Southwell Cakery arrived with Natalie and Jordan’s cake and just wow. Ruth never fails to meet our couple’s expectations, everyone is always so delighted with the way her cakes look and taste and it’s so wonderful for us to have such a great connection with someone so local to us.
With guests due to arrive any minute, it was time for Natalie to put her dress on. Natalie had chosen her dress from ‘I do Bridal’ and we were totally blown away when we were able to get a sneak peak of her, she looked incredible. She had chosen the most perfect, delicate dress to suit her petite frame. It fitted her like a glove and we could not wait to see Jordan’s face!
When we asked Natalie about her favourite part of the day she said… “I loved the moment all the guests started to arrive. Whilst me and the girls were drinking fizz and having the finishing touches done to our makeup, I heard Jord’s voice and started to well up. The atmosphere downstairs sounded like it was buzzing and I just couldn’t wait to get down there and join in!”
Natalie’s bridesmaids were a complete delight on the day, so helpful and involved in the whole day. They made our jobs an absolute dream. Their beautiful dresses had been made to measure by ‘Mix Bridal’. Natalie, along with her bridesmaids and her mum were preened to perfection by Nicola Hodgkinson who specialises in wedding hair and makeup. The girls all looked stunning with a subtle hint of the most perfect wedding makeup.
Not letting the weather hinder them, the groom and the groomsmen arrived and we set upon fixing their ties and their buttonholes. A very nervous and excited Jordan looked exceptional alongside his groomsmen. In perfectly tailored suits they all looked fantastic for the day ahead. Jordan has hired his and his groomsmen’s suit from Moss Bros prior to the wedding and their perfectly matching ties and pocket squares were again by ‘Mix Bridal’.
After their meetings with the registrars, there was just a minute for our beautiful bride to have a quick pep talk from her parents before we whisked her off to become Mrs Edwards.
Natalie and Jordan chose to have George Simpson play throughout their wedding. There is something magical about walking down the aisle to a live performance of a song. George is always such a pleasure to have.
As Natalie and her dad walked down the aisle, we were amazed that despite the weather the ceremony room was still so bright, the perfect lighting to get some amazing photographs. As Natalie reached the top of the aisle, Jordan’s face was a picture. He looked so proud to be marrying Natalie and we were so grateful that we got to witness them become husband and wife. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as we watched these two lovely people say ‘I do’.
As Mr and Mrs Edward’s headed back down our aisle as husband and wife we couldn’t wait to see Martin get some photos of them out in the snow. What an amazing day to be able to capture. On average, the UK gets only 23 days of light snow per year… So how incredibly lucky of Natalie and Jordan to pick one of these days! It is not very often you see a bride and groom in a winter wonderland surrounded by thick snow in the Midlands!
When we asked Jordan about his favourite part of the day he said… “I most enjoyed the drinks reception after the ceremony. It made us feel like absolutely royalty! Coming back down the aisle to one of our favourite songs, collecting our drinks and waiting for people to come over and congratulate us. It’s a magical moment seeing everyone you love under one roof, when different people from all areas of your life come together and start mingling.”
Natalie and Jordan chose Akito Floral Design to create their wedding flowers. They did the most amazing job of making it still feel like a spring wedding on this particularly snowy Saturday in March. The delicate colours complimented the decor at The Old Vicarage and as always they arrived packaged beautifully and well within time… even in the snow!
Natalie and Jordan had a simple yet elegant design for their name cards from ‘Peachy Prints‘, they finished off their tables so effortlessly, the perfect keepsake for any wedding guest.
Cray fish, Lincolnshire leek and Brie arancini with wilted spinach and red pepper coulis.
Creamed local mushroom on toasted brioche with tarragon and white truffle.
Glazed beef short rib with creamed potato, pea puree, Madeira jus, finished with crisp shallot rings.
Honey and mustard glazed root vegetable ‘tarte fine’ with fontina cheese, baby herb salad and cider vinegar syrup.
Warm sticky toffee pudding with rich butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.
The Mini’s: Mini Beef Burgers, Mini Hot Dogs Mini and Fish & Chips.
As George prepared his evening set and the snow fell thick and fast, Natalie and Jordan greeted their evening guests. With the lights dimmed and the candles lit, guests were able to sit and relax and thoroughly enjoy this cosy winter’s evening.
Natalie and Jordan also prepared their own Polaroid guest book for their guests. This is always such a fun way to get all your guests involved in something you can keep forever. We chose to set Natalie and Jordan’s up in our front room so all the evening guests got to use it on arrival! We bet they have some hilarious photo’s!
Thank you to Mr & Mrs Edwards <3
“The Old Vicarage took my breath away as soon as I stepped through the door, it was the first and only venue we visited – it really was love at first sight!
We were shown around by Suzanne and had subsequent meetings with all the girls – which gave us a chance to get to know everyone! Their passion for what they do is clear to see and I was really excited for each of our visits.
Chelsea, Verity and Rebecca were all so helpful with any queries I had, replying to emails almost as soon as I’d sent them! I was a little apprehensive leaving everything in the hands of someone else on the day, but the girls did a fabulous job. Our main decorations were our flowers, which were magically moved around throughout the day to create centrepieces in every room – even for breakfast the morning after!
Everything on the day went faultlessly (even with all of the snow!), the food was absolutely incredible – we had so many compliments from our guests, many saying it’s the best wedding food they’d ever eaten… and indeed one of the best wedding venues they’d ever been to! A real home from home, with such a warm and friendly intimate atmosphere.
I could go on about how truly amazing the whole day was, it far exceeded our expectations and we cannot thank you all enough for giving us the best wedding we could have ever wished for.
Love, Mr & Mrs Edwards xx”
