Wedding Date – Thursday 10th November 2016

From the very first day we met Rachael and Ben in January 2016 at one of our Wedding Open Day’s we knew their wedding was going to be so much fun; Rachel and Ben’s energy was completely contagious both so full of life and so happy to be getting married, planning their wedding was going to be one we wouldn’t forget.

Rachael and Ben chose a winter wedding in November. The Old Vicarage is so romantic in winter settings. With all the candles lit and the chandeliers dimmed we were ready for Rachael and her bridesmaids arrival. As they burst through the door The Old Vicarage was so alive with enthusiasm… This was going to be a great day!

Rachael and her mum had already been the day before to decorate. Rachael’s mum had prepared all the flowers and Rachael had decorated the aisle with delicate blue rose petals. The place looked beautiful, the perfect setting for an intimate winter wedding.

We loved Rachael’s idea for the button holes, rather than only her closest family receiving one, she supplied enough for all of her guests so they could choose their own, displaying them in a beautiful little basket on our front table. What lovely and thoughtful idea.

At 1pm the guests started to arrive for Rachael and Ben’s 1.30pm ceremony. Ben and his groomsmen arrived all in dark blue suits which perfectly complimented the decor Rachael had picked and allowed the elegant winter theme to flow throughout the venue and the guests.

Adam Sendall was the official wedding photographer of the day and as I am sure you will agree from the photo’s, he did an amazing job of capturing Rachael and Ben’s big day. He found all the little outside hideouts around The Old Vicarage to make sure that they had the most memorable and unique wedding album. From the very start to writing this blog he has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Who knew all our little storage sheds could be romanticised to create such a perfect backdrop.

We knew Rachael would look nothing short of incredible but we were absolutely blown away by her hair and makeup. Rachael and her bridesmaids all looked stunning. Rachael’s makeup artist was Billie Rowland and her hair stylist was Jessica Robinson. As they put the finishing touches to Rachael and her bridesmaids up in our bridal suite, it was time to get everyone seated for the ceremony.

Rachael had her two nephews as page boy’s and they were possibly the cutest pair of page boy’s we have ever seen. They hurried down the aisle holding hands and it was such a heart warming moment. They were an absolute delight to have at The Old Vicarage! You will catch these two cheeky chappy’s spread all over our social media!

As we sent Rachael off down the aisle with her dad we ran to take a sneak peak at the front once again to see the look on Ben’s face as he saw his bride. It was truly emotional watching Ben try to hold back the tears, and as he finally gave in and let them stream down his face, we must admit that we too shed a tear witnessing this precious moment. Later on in the proceedings, Rachael told us this was a definite highlight for her as it was in fact the first time she had actually ever seen Ben cry!

Starter

Air-dried heritage tomato bruschetta with buffalo mozzarella, green basil pesto, rocket leaf and parma ham

Main

Braised blade of beef with beef dripping fondant, wilted greens, celariac puree and veal jus

Dessert

Salted caramel brownie with hazelnut crack ice cream and praline

Rachael and Ben chose a saxophonist as their evening entertainment. This was a real treat for us at The Old Vicarage and Ellie did the most incredible job! We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for something a little bit different!

After their wedding we received this amazing review from Rachael and Ben….

“To all the team at the Old Vicarage, We would like to thank you for making our Wedding day so special. We looked around several venues before the Old Vicarage, but nothing give us the Wow factor like the first time we saw this place. My bridesmaids found me to be very relaxed on the wedding day and that was helped by having three professional lovely ladies Chelsea, Rebecca & Verity who throughout the planning and on the day put no doubt in my mind that our day would go perfect from start to finish. Would truly recommend this venue to anyone thinking of booking here! All our Love Rachael & Ben – Wedding 10th November 2016”

When writing this blog we contacted Rachael to ask her about her favourite parts of her big day…

Walking in with my dad and seeing the page boys hold hands, then to top it off seeing Ben cry for the first time since we have been together”

“Loved the setting for eating, nice and intimate, plus the food was fantastic!”

“Also having the saxophonist at night is always going to be one of my big highlights”

Thank you so much for letting us use your pictures for our blog Rachael and Ben! It was a pleasure having your friends, family and suppliers at The Old Vicarage! We wish you every happiness in the world!
