Mr and Mrs Icke – The Old Vicarage Official Wedding Blog

Wedding Date – Friday 8th December 2017

As if Christmas isn’t already a magical time of year, what better way to enhance the festive spirit with a Christmas wedding? We first met Lauren and Tom in the summer of 2016; there and then they chose to secure The Old Vicarage as their wedding venue. When our couple’s book with us it honestly makes our day when they say ‘we knew as soon as we drove up the drive’ and this was no different with Lauren and Tom.

Lauren and Tom both chose to take advantage of our exclusivity the night before option, this is something that a lot of our couples are choosing to do. It’s so lovely for us to be able to be with both our bride and our groom on the morning of their wedding. It also helps that we do this a lot and have become somewhat experts in calming nerves the morning of a wedding day. Tom was really thoughtful and romantic the morning of their wedding, he had a little surprise for Lauren; a picture taken from their engagement shoot with their photographer Megan Wilson. Megan did not only do an amazing job at their engagement shoot but also on the wedding day. Megan captured all photos featured in this blog; she fitted into our tight knit Vicarage team perfectly on Lauren and Tom’s big day.

As Lauren is a beautician she handpicked the best suppliers for both her hair and makeup for her special day. She chose Kaye Salmon as her makeup artist and we can hand on heart say that Lauren and her bridesmaids all looked flawless. In fact, for the 18 months of wedding planning we never saw Lauren look anything but impeccable. On her wedding day, Lauren and her bridal party all looked the best possible version of themselves, there is nothing more that you can ask from your make up artist.

Alison Jenner ensured that Lauren’s long blonde hair was put into the most perfect, sleek low bun that stayed perfect, like actually perfect… All day! Alison always does the most perfect job for our brides and we thoroughly enjoy having her here every time.

The first glimpse we caught of Lauren in her dress took our breath away! The intricate details made it the perfect dress for her big day. It fit her like a glove, flattering her shape incredibly. We couldn’t think of a more perfect dress for her and we could tell she was eager to show all her guests and of course her husband to be, Tom.

Lauren is definitely a girl after our own heart, is there any better excuse to treat yourself to a designer heel?! Especially if you invest in a something that will become a staple in your wardrobe. What says romance more than the notorious Christian Louboutin red sole?

Megan Wilson did such a beautiful job of Lauren and Tom’s wedding photographs, I know that they are over the moon with them! It was lovely having her here on the day with us.

The wedding breakfast tables were beautifully decorated by using our candelabras, that were dressed by Flori & Flora. The tables were very neutral with a touch of gold and navy on the name cards that complimented our charger plates perfectly. Although it was cold outside, the atmosphere was so warming with the candelabras and fires lit.

Lauren and Tom chose a delicious selection for their wedding breakfast menu.

Sweet chilli fishcakes

Bolognese aranchini

Sticky pressed pork

Creamed local mushroom on toasted brioche with tarragon and white truffle.

Glazed beef short rib with creamed potato, pea puree, Madeira jus finished with crisp shallot rings.

Assiette of Dessert

Classic crème brulee with a caramel and crisp biscotti

Glazed lemon tart with raspberry meringue and coulis.

Salted caramel brownie with hazelnut crack ice cream and praline

Evening Food

‘The Pulled Pig’ – Our 12-hour cooked pork pulled and served with stuffing, crackling, apple sauce and selection of breads

Bakezilla created this stunning cake for our bride and groom! It was absolutely delicious even if we do say so ourselves! Sometimes couples can overlook a wedding cake, however the attention to detail from the draping ribbon, to the floral topper was just perfect.

It was lovely having George Simpson for the duration of the wedding, it is ALWAYS a delight having him with us. He often says that he feels like one of the Vicarage team… We would be so lucky haha! He always seems to get everyone up dancing, old or young, you cant help but love him!

It was a dream working with Tom and Lauren from the moment we met them, we wish them every happiness in the world! A huge thank you for this wonderful review!

“WOW where do we start!!! From the moment we drove up to Vicarage we knew it was where we would get married! It was the only venue we looked at and it was absolutely perfect and very ‘us’! So much so we booked it there and then! We chose to use the exclusivity the night before and I would highly recommend it to any one! We had such a fun but relaxing evening and it meant we didn’t have the stress of getting there in the morning! Our wedding day was absolutely perfect the girls are so wonderful and we could not ask for more! Every team member was so helpful and could not do enough! Everyone complimented the venue and we didn’t have a single guest who had visited before!! It truly is a beautiful place and the attention to detail is phenomenal! All the little touches make it all that more special and I especially loved going up to the bridal suite and seeing my very own personalised dressing gown . We really and truly cannot thank you enough for making our wedding day truly one that dreams are made of! Lots of love Mr and Mrs Icke 8th December 2017 xxxxx”
