Wedding Date – Saturday 22nd April 2017

We first met Lucy and Steve in May of 2016, which is when they decided that they would wed at The Old Vicarage on Saturday 22nd May 2017. With an 11 month planning process ahead, we could tell they were really excited! Both Lucy and Steve were an absolute pleasure to work with from the very start.

We eagerly awaited Lucy’s arrival on the Friday evening along with her family who had also taken full advantage of the exclusivity the night before. Once every one had arrived we celebrated their arrival with a bottle of prosecco, it was the start of their wedding after all… You have to do it in style! The soon to be Mrs Weir had chosen to settle in at The Old Vicarage for the evening with a buffet to celebrate one of her closest friends birthday as well as the arrival of the BIG day! We helped Lucy to start dressing the tables with her beautiful stationary; all that was needed to complete the look was the flowers, which would arrive the next day. Lucy and Steve had chosen Norma and Dorothy to do their wedding stationary and they both couldn’t recommend them enough, they were brilliant to work with and had managed to perfectly create the kind of design that they had both been looking for!

It was such a nice morning at The Old Vicarage… Breakfast with a side of nerves and excitement for all. It is very normal for our bridal party to have nerves; it’s what makes the start of the day feel so real! This is such a special day for all, especially our bride however it was definitely a team effort with Lucy and her bridal party, which was also very nice for us to watch and be apart of. One of Lucy’s bridesmaids, Anna did Lucy’s make-up and it was perfect. So flawless! Lucy’s local hairdresser came all the way from Bluebird Salon in Bedford to do her hair; again, this close knit feeling with the bridal party continued.

Coral and Stone were Lucy and Steve’s photographers, and it was such a pleasure to have them back again. They had photographed a wedding at The Old Vicarage in 2015 and we have always recommended them so it was nice to see them both and to show them how the Vicarage had changed over the years!

At 10.30am sharp Rebecca from Floral Deco arrived with the most beautiful breath taking flowers, each put together with so much love and attention. Lucy requested to use our large candelabras to frame the ceremony table, which looked amazing! Rebecca always captures the sentimental meaning for our brides with their bouquets; we knew how much this meant to Lucy.

Lucy and Steve had organised a 3pm ceremony with our Nottinghamshire Registration Service, which meant that the whole morning was completely stress free, it was a very relaxed beginning to their wedding. Once all of their guests began to arrive at 2pm the atmosphere was very exciting… Watching whilst everyone anticipated the arrival of the bride to walk down the aisle

Bride to Bride Advice

Don’t let go of each other’s hands, once you’re separated it’s very hard to link back.

Make decisions on the day based on what makes the two of you happy, prioritise spending time with each other and your guests and definitely don’t sweat the small stuff

“For me, the wedding itself was amazing and I loved every second. What enhanced it further was having the Friday night with all the girls. It was so relaxed and I felt so happy and ready for the next day. It also gave me a chance to tell them how I felt and give out gifts. I think it helped kick it all off and get everyone in a loving frame of mind after being at work during the week.”

Groom to Groom Advice

Be sure to plan pre-ceremony drinks with your guests as they arrive. It was great to relax, chat and greet everyone.

Try not to worry about the speech. Everyone one is on your side!

Thank you so much to the new Mr and Mrs Weir for letting us share their special day on our blog and a huge thank you to Emma and Jade for allowing us to use their amazing photographs! If you’re looking for two lovely photographers to capture your special day, then look no further than these two ladies… Coral and Stone!
