Wedding Open Day – Sunday 22nd September 2019
What a lovely day we had on Sunday. Honestly, I know we’re biased but wedding open days honestly make us so happy! We get to meet so many amazing couples who are just starting their wedding journey and then to see a lot of familiar faces, the couples who have already booked their wedding with us!
Sunday was a little bit of a last minute decision, we had a huge response to our wedding open day on 29th September which is amazing but we also had a good handful of people not being able to make the 29th so we decided to open our doors on the 22nd to ensure 29th wasn’t too busy and also accommodate couples who couldn’t make 29th. It was a great idea in hindsight and potentially we will think about doubling up our open days in the future… We will see after this Sunday!
An open day isn’t an open day without TOV sweet and savoury canapés! On Sunday we had the following canapés…
Savoury – Baby mozzarella, pesto and air-dried tomato bruschetta, Mini fillet beef rossini with truffle pate served en croute, Local asparagus spear with camembert wrapped in parma ham with a hollandaise dip, Sticky pressed pork with bourbon smoked BBQ glaze and apple slaw, seared scallop with black passing and apple textures and finally peeled tiger prawns with iberico chorizo sausage and lime.
Sweet – Salted caramel brownie with hazelnut crack, sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch ice cream and mini meringues with Chantilly cream!
We decided to try and mix up our suppliers a little bit for the first open day. As you know we are very selective on who we use and recommend to you guys so it was important to only bring in the best! We were thrilled with who we used… The wonderful thing about our industry is that we have a lot of suppliers who actually LOVE their job and are very passionate about what they do. We have given a little write up about each of the suppliers we used below.
Esther and ourselves became ‘Instagram friends’ a little while back… Social media is a real gem! We always hugely appreciated her beautiful pictures but sometimes it takes just that one picture for you to completely fall in love with a photographers style. Esther is such a positive influence in the wedding world and such a joy to work with! We honestly cannot wait for her to return to TOV!
Okay, if you know us.. You know how much we love Gigil (pronounced like giggle) and Bloom. Sophie the owner is very ambitious and always taking our couples visions and turning them into absolute flourishing gorgeousness. We are always supporting local businesses in Southwell and Gigil and Bloom have a shop right in the centre of Southwell that if you’re around and about, you should definitely pop in to get your creative juices flowing! The team at G&B are always looking for new ideas and new inspiration to keep them a step ahead.
There are always a handful of local suppliers that you always hear the name of, one of them is the wonderful Ruddington Cake Company. So many of our couples use the lovely Lisa to create their wedding cake! It was so nice to finally add her to our recommended suppliers list this year although it seems that she didn’t need the recommendations as a lot of our couples have found her without our assistance, which says it all really doesn’t it! Lisa kindly supplied us with sample boxes of her cake, which we wish we could say we tasted but all of our goodie bags were snapped up before 2pm! It was incredible to see how many new couples visited the open day… We would love to hear your feedback on the cake if you did manage to get a sample box!
We hold our hands up and say we are a little too particular about the bridal boutiques that we recommend… There are only two on our list as after all it is completely out of our control haha! The Knot Bridal is very new to Nottingham and has absolutely made theirselves known in the short time they have been open. The boutique itself is absolutely stunning, as you could imagine the place you would say ‘yes to the dress’ would be. High ceilings, lovely decor, beautiful natural light and lots of space to walk around in which is so important!
Louise is basically part of TOV family! She has been at our open days since day one. Im sure she will hate me saying but she can learn any song your heart desires and will work endlessly to ensure that your ceremony or reception drinks is perfect, whether you want that to be classical or current music!
As we said, we love finding small businesses that love what they do and I don’t think you could find anyone who loves what they do more than Faye. What more could you want on your special day other than the most personalised and detailed calligraphy by Faye herself. Each name card, table plan and ceremony sign is so perfectly presented and unique!
We were introduced to Matt through one of our couples who chose him for their entire wedding day and lets just say… We. Were. Blown. Away. He is such a gentleman and creates such a lovely jazz and swing sound without being too loud or overpowering! It was the first time he attended one of our open days and we are absolutely going to have him back, 90% of the people we spoke to at the open day wanted to book him on the spot.
So don’t forget, we have another wedding open day this Sunday 29th September from 12pm – 4pm and we will have a new set of suppliers attending. You don’t need to book and we don’t charge an entry fee. If you secure your wedding with us on Sunday we will be offering a complimentary civil ceremony which is a saving of £480.00 inc. VAT.
