Wedding Open Day – Saturday 6th May 2017
We wanted to write this blog to thank every single guest who attended our Wedding Open Day on Saturday 6th May 2017. It was without a doubt our most successful Wedding Open Day to date. Not only did we welcome a record amount of couples through our front door but we also took a record breaking amount of new bookings too. We are so excited to start working with all of our new Vicarage couples.
At The Old Vicarage, our advertising preferences are a little different to most wedding venues. Our only form of advertising is through a few banners around the Nottinghamshire area and social media. You can follow our accounts here..

We always have a lot of nerves before opening our doors to our guests. With no ticket being required (as always) and with little advertising we have no idea how many guests may turn up! From 11:59am The Old Vicarage car park started filling up quicker and quicker and by 12.15pm our first new couple had secured their date for September 2018.
It’s so nice for us to be able to sit and enjoy chatting to people about this wonderful little wedding venue we have created, even if we do say so ourselves. We love seeing the look on peoples faces as they walk into The Vicarage and begin to take in our unique and ever changing interior.
Of course, no Vicarage Open Day would be complete without Fizz and Canapés! At this open day we had:
Mini fillet beef rossini with truffle and pate served en croute
Local asparagus spear and camembert wrapped in parma ham with a hollandaise dip
Sticky pressed pork with bourbon smoked BBQ glaze and apple slaw
Jerk chicken tostada with pineapple salsa
Spiced spinach and halloumi naan bites
Chilli Crab croquettes with bravas sauce
The Vicarage Boutique eton mess, seasonal fruits, crisp meringue and chantilly cream
Salted caramel brownie with hazelnut crack ice cream and praline
Sticky toffee pudding with rich butterscotch sauce
White chocolate macaroons
Spiced brazil nut biscotti’s
We would like to thank all of the suppliers who came to our Open Day. Vaas of course for their beautiful creations both inside and outside! Unfortunately the weather was a little dull but thank fully the rain held off for the day. We are hoping for sunshine at our next Wedding Open Day in July. The bandstand looked absolutely stunning and it was such a treat for our current brides and grooms to be able to see it all set up and decorated.
Louise the Nottinghamshire Harpist for playing the harp all day! The sound of the harp compliments The Old Vicarage so well. Louise plays so delicately and expertly that she is perfect for any wedding. Being an imitate venue has its advantages, one of them being that music is able to travel through the whole venue lacing every room the same elegance.
Love Candy Cakes for providing us with an excellent cake to show off our cake stand and vera wang cake cutter, which is free for all of our couples to use should they wish! Candy is an absolute professional at what she does and always ensures that her cakes are of the highest quality… Delicious too!
Scrumpy’s provided us with one of their wedding cars for the day! This was something new we tried and we absolutely loved it! It was the perfect addition to the front of the building!
Last but not least a huge thank you to Martin Makowski for photographing the day! We love having Martin at The Old Vicarage and he captures our lovely little wedding venue perfectly every time we see him!
A huge congratulations to all the couples who chose too book The Old Vicarage as their wedding venue. We are thrilled and cannot wait to start working with you all.
We will be hosting our next Wedding Open Day on Sunday 2nd July from 12pm – 4pm! Canapés and fizz will be served all day and of course, no ticket required!
