Sixteen Years

From a derelict care home to cherished wedding and event venue – a love story built on vision, grit, and family.

Since 2009, we’ve been proud to create a beautiful, honest space where families come together to celebrate life’s most meaningful moments - from our family to yours.

We saw potential and bought the building at auction - a once-loved building that had fallen into disrepair after years as a care home. It was completely derelict, but we saw something others didn’t: its quiet beauty, its soul, and the potential beneath the peeling paint and broken windows. We saw beauty waiting to be uncovered, the beginning of something special.

Buying The Old Vicarage at auction was a leap of faith - one rooted in our belief that with hard work and heart, anything was possible. What followed was two years of total restoration. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t easy. But it was ours.

Every wall was stripped back, every sash window restored by hand - our hands - because we simply couldn’t afford joiners or builders. No corner was left untouched. We poured ourselves into this place - our time, our energy, our love. Slowly, brick by brick, it transformed, a true labour of love.

What rose from the dust wasn’t just a building - it was a home for celebration. A place where families could gather, laugh, cry, and mark life’s most significant milestones. A space filled with joy, warmth, and genuine connection.

Today, sixteen years on, The Old Vicarage is more than we ever dreamed it could be. A female-founded, family-run venue that holds hundreds of stories - not just ours, but yours too. The couples who said "I do" under our roof. The children who danced barefoot on our lawns. The generations who toasted love, life, and everything in between.

Life hasn’t been easy these past few years - for anyone. Since Covid, we’ve all felt the ripple effects… rising costs, constant changes, and the challenge of keeping small businesses like ours afloat in uncertain times.

But today, our hearts are full. Our 2026 diary is almost completely booked, and we truly couldn’t be more grateful. To still be here, doing what we love, with you by our side - it means the world. We’re soaking in every moment, knowing how hard-won this joy is.

We’re still here, still restoring, still dreaming - and still giving this beautiful place the love and attention it deserves.

To every couple, every family, every friend who’s walked through our doors - thank you. Your stories are part of our foundation. Your joy is our why.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being part of our journey and our community. We are so grateful for your support - then, now, and always. Here’s to the past sixteen years… and all that’s yet to come.

With love, Susie, Chelsea and our wonderful team.
